🌿 Burnout Taught Me This (And It Might Help You Too)

Hello Reader,

I get burned out too!

I want to share something real with you today. You know I spend my days helping women break through burnout, find clarity, and step into the next level of their leadership. But recently, I’ve had to take my own medicine.

Between my move to Oklahoma, heavier demands at my corporate role as I developed a full leadership development program, the heartbreak of losing a beloved pet, and the never-ending push to “keep creating,” I found myself completely drained. Stuck. Exhausted. Burned out.

So, I did something that felt scary at first: I took my foot off the pedal. I let myself step back. I traded constant producing for quiet time. I caught up on shows I had been saving, cooked thoughtful meals, and focused on getting my health back in order. And you know what? That space gave me clarity.

What's your word?

I like to choose words each season of my life. For the past few years, my word has been courage. I took risks and leaps, I stretched, and I grew in ways I could not have imagined. In my new chapter, my word is rooted. Because courage gave me wings, but now it is time to plant myself firmly. To grow deeper instead of wider. To build strength from the ground up so I can have my greatest comeback yet.

If you have been feeling stuck, I want you to know first of all, you are not alone. It is okay to pause. Growth does not always look like racing ahead. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is stop, breathe, and give yourself permission to find yourself again.

Here are a few simple ways I’ve been recharging and rooting myself again:

  1. Quiet time daily - even 10 minutes to sit without distractions.
  2. Well-thought-out meals - that nourish instead of deplete.
  3. Movement I enjoy – I started walking (a lot) in May, and stretching, instead of forcing intensity, which just caused me to give up before I saw any results.
  4. Screen-free evenings a couple of times a week for deeper rest. I started a few crafts, and let my mind wander about what comes next.

And here is the exciting part: taking this pause has helped me create some things I know you will love. Over the next few months, I will be sharing new resources, fresh ways to think about your career, and opportunities to connect more deeply. I cannot wait to bring you along.

In the meantime, I would love to hear from you. If you chose a word for your season right now, what would it be?

Cheering you on,

Hello Reader, As the year winds down, I’ve been feeling especially grateful. Every week, you let me into your inbox. Into your real life. And that’s not something I take lightly. Your attention is one of the most valuable things you have, and the fact that you choose to spend a few minutes here, reading what I share, means more than I can put into words. I started writing these emails because I wanted a more intentional kind of space. One that felt thoughtful, honest, and grounding. Somewhere...

Hello Reader, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be “strong.” Not the kind of strong people compliment you for when you’re holding it all together, but the kind of quiet strength we carry when we feel like we can’t fall apart. I’ve lived that version of strength a few times. The version where you smile, show up, push through, and say “I’m fine” when you’re not.The version where you show up with grace while privately juggling doubt, exhaustion, and the weight of...

Hello Reader, When the world shut down and went virtual, I had to learn—fast—how to prioritize my time. Suddenly, everything was happening at home, all at once, and it felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day to manage work, life, and everything in between. Let me tell you, figuring out how to make my time work for me wasn’t easy, but it was a game changer once I got the hang of it. Recently, I’ve been working with several new leaders who are facing a similar challenge. They’re...
